Neo-Nazi Leader Arrested for Alleged Rape of 13-Year-Old Girl

Las Vegas Metro Police arrested the Nevada state leader of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement (NSM), Josh Davenport, 24, on August 11 on charges of kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl.  Police investigating a missing child report were led to Davenport’s nearby apartment, but left when no one answered their knocks. However, members of the kidnapped girl’s family subsequently surveilled the apartment and later in the night allegedly saw the crying girl leaving his apartment. They called the police again, who returned and arrested Davenport without incident.

According to police, the victim said she had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint and the suspect had threatened to kill the girl and her family. Davenport reportedly told police that he saw the girl having an argument with another boy, then invited her into his apartment for a short time before telling her to leave. He denied kidnapping or having sex with the victim. A subsequent medical examination found signs of sexual trauma on the victim, while a search of Davenport’s apartment allegedly found items of the victim’s clothing in a bag in Davenport’s bedroom.

Davenport was charged with four counts of sexual assault on a victim under 14, four counts of sexual assault with a deadly weapon, lewdness with a minor, kidnapping, and battery with intent to commit sexual assault. He has had a previous history of violence towards women.  In 2010, following an incident with his then-girlfriend, he pleaded guilty to attempt to commit battery constituting domestic violence by strangulation. He received a suspended 12-month sentence and two years of probation. As recently as July 16, Davenport posted to his Facebook profile that “Half the time when i see a hot chick i wanna ask her out to dinner.  And the other half time i just want to see what their heads would look like on a stick.”

Davenport has been an active member of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement since 2007.  He has been the group’s Nevada state leader since 2011. During this time, Davenport organized or participated in numerous NSM events in Nevada, Arizona and California, including a number of anti-immigration events, such as a June 2011 NSM protest dubbed “Reclaim the Southwest” held outside a Las Vegas nursery to protest day laborers.

Davenport is heavily tattooed, with many tattoos depicting occult subjects or hate symbols.  Among his tattoos are several swastikas, the white supremacist version of the Celtic Cross, a Sturmabteilung symbol (the Sturmabteilung, or SA, were Hitler’s stormtroopers), a 14/88 (a white supremacist tattoo combining the number 14, which is code for a popular white supremacist slogan, with the number 88, which is code for “Heil Hitler”), SS bolts, the phrase “white power,” a Totenkopf skull, and the SS slogan “Meine Ehre Heisst Treue” (“My Honor Is Loyalty”), among others.

Blood Libel Broadcast Across Arab World: New Arabic Translation Of Talmud Cited

Holocaust denial, the blood libel and other vicious anti-Semitism marked last week’s episode of the weekly show Milad airing on multiple Arab satellite channels.

Salman Al-Ouda

During the program, a weekly discussion with Dr. Salman al-Ouda, a prominent Saudi scholar and the Assistant Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, al-Ouda promoted the Arabic language translation of the Babylonian Talmud to support his anti-Semitic diatribe.

In one segment of the episode, al-Ouda said: “The Jews believe that they have the right to kill anyone who doesn’t believe in their religion — it’s stated in the Talmud.” He then told a story about a doctor who was asked by Jews to provide them with human blood to make pies. That story was followed by another description of Jews abducting children in Damascus in order to use their blood during Easter.

Al-Ouda then showed a copy of the newly released Arabic translation of the Talmud published by the Middle East Studies Center (MESC), a Jordan-based think tank. “The people who translated this book must be thanked,” he said. “…they gave us a weapon to confront our enemies, to expose the mentality of the Jews, to learn how they think and expose their scandals. The Jews were very upset with this translation and fought against it.”

When asked by the show’s co-host if the Jews’ evil characteristics are acquired or inherent, Al-Ouda responded, “Worldwide, you might find some Jews who live in open societies away from the influence of other Jews or away from the bond with their religion and race. They turn into atheist Jews like Norman [Finkelstein], who is an atheist, or some even become communists, or socialists. They become ordinary people, away from the influence of [their] religion.”

Al-Ouda described Finkelstein, an anti-Israel academic whose career has been marked by a vitriolic hatred of Zionism and Israel, as “Jewish yet courageous.” Al-Ouda also minimized the number of Jews killed during the Holocaust.

Milad airs on Qatar Television, Libya Television, and Saudi channels including 4Shabab, Rotana and Al-Risala, among others. Earlier this month, ADL expressed concern that anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and anti-Israel plot lines have dominated various shows airing during Ramadan on satellite stations with wide viewership across the Middle East.

White Supremacists React to Sikh Temple Shootings

Since the Sikh temple shooting in Wisconsin on August 5, reactions from American white supremacists have varied widely, from deploring the shootings to praising the shooter, Wade Michael Page.

Early responses occurred before white supremacists learned the shooter was a long-time white supremacist.  Many reactions expressed concern that the mass shooting would prompt calls for gun control. Others were unhappy with the target.  “I have to say that Sikhs are the least objectionable non-White immigrant group in North America by far!!” wrote one poster on the white supremacist discussion forum Stormfront.   Another Stormfronter agreed:  “There’s so many legitimate enemies, it’s just so stupid to pick Sikhs.”  A poster to the Vanguard News Network (VNN) asked, “Why get focused on Sikhs?  Just weird.  Very specific turd in a giant sewer…Our worst enemies are jews and white traitors.  If you aren’t fighting them, you just aren’t living.”

Others made crude jokes, as did this Stormfronter from Wisconsin:  “In a related story, several gas stations and convenience stores in the Milwaukee area have put out Help Wanted signs.”

Soon, however, white supremacists learned of Page’s extremist past, prompting a general attempt at distancing themselves.  Some claimed the shooting was not representative of white supremacists.  Others thought it was poor targeting.  “He…never learned the crucial lesson,” posted one Stormfronter.  “Don’t attack the symptoms, attack the cause.”  A VNN poster opined that “I don’t mind the massacres so much as the sheer idiocy of those doing the shooting, the random thoughtlessness of their targets.  If they are going to go out in a blaze of glory then they should at least attempt to select more politically significant targets instead of meaningless individuals.”  Many expressed fear of a backlash against the white supremacist movement.

Others, however, thought of Page as a martyr to the cause.  “See you in Valhalla, brother,” posted Zach Butler, a North Carolina white supremacist, to his Facebook profile.  One Orange County based white power music band, Armed and Ready, posted to its Facebook page:  “R.I.P. Brother Wade, out with a whimper or out with a bang, it’s your choice.”

These sorts of sentiments appeared especially popular among members and supporters of the Hammerskins, the large racist skinhead group of which Page was a member.   “For Wade, the fight goes on,” posted one Idaho Hammerskin to Facebook.  “R.I.P. brother, you’ll be missed!” wrote another.  “RIP, Wade, U were one hell of a white patriot,” posted Robert Kopko, a Florida Hammerskin.  Several days later, he announced that he was “gonna go out with some brothers an[d] have a couple drinks for a fallen patriot.”  Another Florida Hammerskin wrote that “I miss my good friend WADEHAIL WADE!!”
