Malik Zulu Shabazz Calls For Violence In Charleston, South Carolina

Malik Zulu Shabazz, the racist and anti-Semitic former leader of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) and current head of Black Lawyers for Justice (BLJ), traveled to Charleston, South Carolina, where he called for violence in the aftermath of the shooting that killed nine people at the Emanuel AME Church.

On June 23, Shabazz organized a rally in front of the Emanuel AME Church billed as “National Rally #1 In Defense of the Black Church.” From the stage, Shabazz referenced  Denmark Vesey, who in 1822 plotted a rebellion against slavery in which, according to PBS, he and others “planned to seize Charleston’s arsenals and guard houses, kill the Governor, set fire to the city, and kill every white man they saw.” Shabazz stated:

Denmark Vesey had a plan to kill all the slave masters in the state. Denmark Vesey had a plan to kill every last one of them and kill all their goddamn families, and we need some new Denmark Veseys today. We gotta complete what Denmark didn’t finish. He never finished his mission, but the real children of Denmark Vesey is [sic] out here today.

Shabazz has planned a second rally he is calling “Rally to Bury White Supremacy: Massive National Demonstration #2” scheduled at the same location on June 27. Hashim Nzinga, the current chairman of the NBPP attended the June 23 rally and is scheduled to attend this one as well.

While Shabazz attempts to portray himself as a civil rights leader, he continues to inject his bigotry and violent rhetoric into high-profile racially-charged events, inflaming already tense situations.

Previously, in the aftermath of Freddie Gray’s death in Baltimore, Shabazz organized protests and called for violence against law enforcement on Fox News Radio’s “The Alan Colmes Show.” Shabazz told Colmes that “those young Baltimore youth are liken to the Palestinians battling an Israeli occupier…some people might need to get hurt in self-defense.”

These statements echoed those he made on Black Power Radio, where he justified the burning down of a CVS and told his audience that “We’re gonna stop all of this goddamn talking and raise up an army and deal with you mother—ers.”

Similarly, after Michael Brown was killed by police in Ferguson, Missouri, Shabazz and other NBPP leaders traveled to Ferguson, aggravating the situation there. Shabazz led protesters in chants calling for the death of the officer who shot Michael Brown. Using a megaphone, Shabazz yelled, “Who do we want?” The protestors responded, “Darren Wilson!” Shabazz: “How do we want him?” Protestors: “Dead!”

In 2012, the NBPP, then under the leadership of Shabazz, also offered a $10,000 reward for the “capture” of George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed Trayvon Martin in Florida.

New Black Panther Party Advisor Calls For Killing In Ferguson Aftermath

Mauricelm-Lei Millere, an advisor to the New Black Panther Party (NBPP), is using social media to call for the death of the police officer who shot Michael Brown and for violence against white people in general, inflaming the already tense situation in Ferguson, Missouri.

On September 15, Millere, who is currently in Ferguson, posted an image of Officer Darren Wilson on Facebook and wrote, “When you find Darren Wilson you know what to do! Whoever finds him knows what must be done! Take everything that he took from Mike Brown.”

The day before, Millere posted on Facebook that Wilson is “wanted Dead or Alive!” echoing calls made by the NBPP, the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist Black militant group in the country, for the “dead or alive” capture of George Zimmerman, the man who, in February 2012, shot and killed Trayvon Martin.

Millere also called for violence against Martin Baker, an African-American congressional candidate who publicly supported due process for Darren Wilson. On September 11, Millere wrote that Baker “must be caught, beat, drug, and whipped to the point of seeing the light for supporting white racist murderer Darren Wilson…We must physically beat this jiggaboo…” Later that day, Millere commented on his post, which included a photo of Baker: “Get a good look at this a**h**e. Find him, detain him, beat him, and await further instructions.”

In these Facebook posts, Millere lists his affiliation as being with the African American Defense League (AADL), an organization Millere started on September 10, which unabashedly promotes violence against white people.

On September 11, Millere wrote via the AADL’s Facebook profile, “The whiteman wants your blood! How many of us has he killed and enslaved? Trillions!…We need the action that makes them pay attention. An eye for an eye philosophy! Arm yourself in Ferguson, Missouri and across America! A life for a life!” He continued, “Also, we must go to their comfortable neighborhoods and raid those stores. It is time to LOOT & BURN those stores…” The post’s image depicts a man holding a rifle.

Millere changed the AADL’s Facebook profile picture to a photo of a handgun on September 10 and wrote “Shoot 1st.” Millere subsequently updated the AADL’s cover photo to a gun, and commented on the photo that, “There comes a time when one must do what is necessary beyond cost. Dr. Mauricelm-Lei Millere.”

Additionally,Malik Zulu Shabazz, the former NBPP leader and current leader of the Black Lawyers for Justice who has a long history of anti-Semitism and racism, appears to be involved with the AADL. On September 13, Millere posted that Shabazz is a board member of AADL and Shabazz responded positively, saying that the he came up with the name and concept behind AADL but that he gave it to Millere. On September 14, Shabazz posted the following on AADL’s Facebook page: “Much success to the African American Defense League—The AADL. We need a broad based organization that will organize to defend our hunan [sic] rights.”

While media reports sometimes call Millere an NBPP “leader” and Millere describes himself as a “Lead Advisor at Black Riders Liberation Party, Lead Advisor and Liason [sic] at Black Panther Party and Lead Advisor and Liason [sic] at New Black Panther Party,” it is not clear exactly what role he plays with the NBPP. In September 2011, Millere and Shabazz appeared together at an event in Columbus, Ohio, and in October 2010, Millere appears to have organized an event for the “Arkansas New Black Panther Party” in Little Rock.

New Black Panther Party Announces New Chairman, Same Hateful Message

Malik Zulu Shabazz announced that he is stepping down from his position as National Chairman of the racist and anti-Semitic New Black Panther Party (NBPP) to focus on his career as a lawyer with the Black Lawyers for Justice, an organization he founded in 1996.

Shabazz made the announcement on the NBPP’s online radio broadcast on Monday. He noted that despite leaving his position as National Chairman, he will continue to serve the NBPP as a “spiritual guide.”

His replacement is Hashim Nzinga, who previously served as the NBPP’s Chief of Staff and has been involved with the NBPP since 1994 when he met Khalid Muhammad and served as his personal assistant.

Like Shabazz, Nzinga has a long history of racism and anti-Semitism. In a June 2013 online radio broadcast, for example, Nzinga claimed that Jews conspire to promote a negative image of Black youth through their supposed control of the media, stating, “The Jews’ news…shows us before the world looking like damn fools” and called for a boycott of companies that “continue to help the Jews’ news make our youth look like buffoons before the world.”

In January 2010, Nzinga accused Jews of having disproportionate power over the media and entertainment industries, which he asserted was achieved by exploiting alliances with Blacks during the Civil Rights era. Jews, he argued, “used us as cannon fire while they directed our leaders, they directed Dr. King, they directed the NAACP, they directed those who they control.”

Nzinga further protested what he sees as a Jewish monopoly on suffering, stating, “If we mention our Holocaust even the Jews get mad, but you say something about their Holocaust, they call you anti-Semitic.” Nzinga also claimed that Jews had foreknowledge of September 11 attacks during a 2005 appearance on Hannity & Colmes.

Malik Shabazz also announced that National Spokesman Chawn Kweli will take over Nzinga’s former role of NBPP Chief of Staff. King Samir Shabazz, notorious for rants in which he calls for violence against whites and others, will remain in his position of National Field Marshall.
