Anti-Jewish Conspiracy Theories Mark Farrakhan’s 2013 Saviours’ Day Address in Chicago

Louis Farrakhan’s keynote address during this past weekend’s annual Saviours’ Day convention once again featured anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish political and financial control of the United States.

Among the anti-Semitic conspiracies Farrakhan propagated during his three-hour address to approximately 8,300 people at the University of Illinois Chicago, is the notion that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the Federal Reserve Bank, and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) were set up by the Jews in tandem to control the fiscal policies of the United States:

“And today in 2013, we are in December of this year 100 years since the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank and the Internal Revenue Service and the ADL. America’s debt has gone from two billion dollars to more than sixteen trillion dollars. Now they set these institutions up to work in unity: the Federal Reserve the IRS and the ADL. One was to create debt, the other was to enforce a tax policy to take from the American citizens enough to pay that debt, and the watchdog of the whole thing was to see who would recognize who did this and that’s when the ADL raised the cry of anti-Semitism, and now America is seeing herself in ruin because of it.”

Farrakhan also listed statistics on Jewish members of the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court before concluding, “Special interests along with Zionist AIPAC are robbing America of the principle of democracy and representative government.”

Farrakhan then raised the nomination of Senator Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense to make claims against the Jewish State:

“You need a man like Senator Hagel as your Secretary of Defense because a man with a mind like that will keep you out of fighting someone else’s wars. You need a man in government that has another opinion that is not controlled, and if the Senate does not confirm him as Defense Secretary because of his opinion on Israel, that only proves that the Senate and the U.S. Congress is controlled by the Israel lobby, and it also sentences America to war with Iran for the state of Israel.”

Farrakhan’s anti-Semitism has not been limited to his latest Saviours’ Day address. The Nation of Islam (NOI) continues to engage in a wide-ranging propaganda campaign against Jews through its media arm.  For example, in a February 9 article in the NOI’s newspaper, The Final Call, Farrakhan claimed that Jews control the media and are behind what he describes as an inaccurate portrayal of him in a Lifetime movie on the lives of Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz:

“The Jewish people behind this film have characterized Farrakhan as the ‘No. 1 Anti-Semite.’…Those who control this movie, those who wrote the script—those who control the media—all want to try me in the court of public opinion.”

Farrakhan also continues to promote his ideology in a 52-week lecture series titled “The Time and What Must Be Done.” While the first seven installments of these lectures have focused mostly on theological topics, Farrakhan sometimes digresses into racist conspiracy theories. In one lecture he accuses the American government of hatching a plan to kill “two to three billion people on our planet…Could this be why, in Africa, AIDS is slaughtering black men and women, particularly in those areas where the mineral resources of that area is necessary to keep American in power in this 21st century?”

CNN Gives Platform to Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones

On Monday, CNN aired a primetime interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Piers Morgan Tonight. Jones’s appearance might have been an eye-opening experience for those unfamiliar with what extremists are saying, but to the extent that the interview allowed him to promote both his views and his media outlets to hundreds of thousands of new viewers, it was quite troubling.

In his initial introduction of Jones, the host, Piers Morgan, only identified him as the host of “The Alex Jones Show” and also “one of the people behind” the petition calling for Morgan to be deported for his views on the second amendment.

Jones uses his radio show and his websites, Infowars and Prison Planet, to promote a host of right-wing and anti-government conspiracy theories.

For example, in a 2011 interview with Rolling Stone, Jones commented on the shooting of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), stating “The whole thing stinks to high heaven. This kid Loughner disappeared for days at a time before the shooting? My gut tells me this was a staged mind-control operation. The government employs geometric psychological-warfare experts that know exactly how to indirectly manipulate unstable people through the media. They implanted the idea in his head by repeatedly asking, ‘Is Giffords in danger?’”

A description on Jones’s website Infowars for his film “911 The Road To Tyranny” describes how the film examines “Bill Clinton’s involvement in the Oklahoma City bombing and how it was carried out by intelligence agencies to be blamed on the right-wing.  According to the description, the film also addresses “how the FBI ordered their informants to cook the bomb and train the drivers in the first World Trade Center attack in 1993.”

Jones’s conspiracy theories, while easily dismissed as ludicrous, can influence people to take action. In August 2009, a man pleaded guilty to sending a threatening communication after he wrote a message on Infowars threatening to kill a San Francisco police officer and his family after reading a discussion about a subway shooting by a police officer in Oakland, California.

Mike Harris, Sandy Hook Conspiracy Theorist, Has Neo-Nazi Ties

From white supremacists to conspiracy theorists, extremist circles have been promoting Mike Harris’ claim that Israel is behind the Sandy Hook Massacre. Harris was given a platform to disseminate his hateful views on Press TV, the Iranian government’s English-language propaganda network.

Harris has ties to members of the National Socialist Movement (NSM), the country’s largest neo-Nazi group. Harris was an associate of J.T. Ready, a former NSM member and an anti-immigrant activist who shot and killed five people in May 2012, before killing himself.

In October 2009, Harris attended an NSM rally in Riverside, California, along with Ready (see photo). Harris joined NSM members for a group shot at the Riverside rally. He is in the back row, the fourth person from the left. Ready is the second person from the left in the same row, holding his hand in a “Sieg Heil” salute.

Harris’s conspiratorial ideas about Jews extend beyond the tragedy at Sandy Hook. In 2011, for example, he wrote an article in the anti-Semitic website Veterans Today that blamed “organized Jewry, the Neo-Pharisees that comprise the unelected criminal shadow government” for the tragic shooting in Tucson in which 19 people were shot.

He called Congresswoman Giffords a “pawn” in the Jews’ “bigger agenda,” which included perpetrating 9/11 and the Oklahoma City bombing as false flag operations to help bring about a totalitarian state in America which would “impose hell” on American citizens.
