American Anti-Semite and Holocaust Denier Willis Carto Dies

Willis Carto, one of the most virulent anti-Semitic propagandists in the United States, died this week at age 89, according to Counter-Currents, an online white supremacist journal. Carto had been active on the extreme right for over 60 years and was associated with various movements from neo-Nazism to Holocaust denial. He spread hatred against Jews through anti-Semitic conspiracy-oriented publications and by holding conferences that featured other well-known anti-Semites and Holocaust deniers.

Carto established an intricate network of bigotry and was most well-known for two outlets that had a lasting impact on the extreme right. He founded the Liberty Lobby, based in Washington, DC, in the 1950s, which became an important source of anti-Semitic propaganda. Liberty Lobby united various right-wing constituencies, from hard-right libertarians to conspiratorial anticommunists to racists, by using populist rhetoric to inflame their anti-government and nativist fears, while incorporating implicit anti-Semitic notions in many of its publications.

Liberty Lobby published The Spotlight, a weekly newspaper which promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. The Spotlight became the premiere publication of the extreme right from its inception in 1975 until it ceased publication in 2001.

In 1979, Carto took the lead in a growing area of anti-Semitism when he founded the Institute for Historical Review (IHR), to create and market Holocaust-denial propaganda. Based in California, IHR operated under a guise of scholarship and published “revisionist” studies laced with anti-Semitic themes in the Journal of Historical Review. It soon became the leading Holocaust denial organization in the U.S.

In the 1990s, Carto lost control of IHR in a legal dispute but went on to found another Holocaust denial publication, The Barnes Review, which is still in circulation. Carto filed for bankruptcy following his legal problems with IHR, which led to the end of Liberty Lobby and The Spotlight in 2001. However, Carto and the former staff of The Spotlight went on to found a new weekly publication, American Free Press, which continued Carto’s run of anti-Semitic propaganda.

American Free Press and  The Barnes Review, attract the most vitriolic anti-Semites. While it is unclear what will happen to Carto’s anti-Semitic propaganda empire, his death may disrupt or shut down the publications.

Anti-Semitic Pastor Steve Anderson Promotes Holocaust Denial

Steve Anderson, the anti-Semitic pastor of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona, denies the Holocaust in a video he posted to YouTube last week, claiming that the millions of Jews who were gassed and burned in ovens simply died of hunger and disease due to forced labor and war.

In addition to arguing that it would be impossible for the Nazis to have cremated a million Jews at Auschwitz, Anderson claims that the slave laborers there got compensated for their work and could buy items at a commissary. He further asserts that Jews were able to play on a soccer team and act in musicals and plays at Auschwitz.

Anderson also promotes other anti-Semitic claims. He asserts that Hitler and Zionists had the same goal of getting Jews to leave Germany and then accuses the Zionists of working with the Nazis so that Jews would go to Palestine. He alleges that the Jews lied about the Holocaust so that the state of Israel could be created and asserts that Jews stole the land from Arabs and then put them in “a giant concentration camp known as Gaza.”

This video is also a promotion piece for Anderson’s anti-Semitic film “Marching to Zion.” The film, released in March 2015, refers to Judaism as the “synagogue of Satan” and claims that Jews are followers of the Antichrist. He also asserts that Jews who deny that Jesus is the Messiah would lie about the Holocaust. He argues, “Why would it surprise you that the people who deny the Christ, who deny that Jesus is the messiah, would lie to you about something else?”

Anderson warns that the “real Holocaust” for the Jews will occur if they don’t accept Jesus as the Messiah. He says, “The real burnt offering is going to be when all of these Jews that don’t believe in Jesus Christ go to hell for eternity. That’s the oven that they ought to be worried about.”

At the end of the video, Anderson recommends that his viewers read a Holocaust denial book written by Victor Thorn, a writer for American Free Press, an anti-Semitic conspiracy-oriented newspaper. With this Holocaust denial video, Anderson demonstrates that he is increasingly embracing anti-Semitic ideologies.

Eric Hunt Unveils New Film, Plans For Virtual Holocaust Denial Museum

Image promoting the film

Eric Hunt, a Holocaust denier known for attacking Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, released a new film on December 6 titled The Majdanek Gas Chamber Myth.

Hunt’s new film, available on YouTube, uses clips of Holocaust survivors’ testimonies from the USC Shoah Foundation Institute for Visual History and Education (established by Steven Spielberg in 1994) to claim that “all the gas chambers in the Majdanek concentration camp were designed and built exclusively for sanitary purposes as disinfestation facilities.” Hunt portrays the Holocaust as a whole as “a deliberate psychological warfare campaign to con the world.”

Hunt similarly used clips from survivors in his previous films, including The Treblinka Archaeology Hoax released in May and The Jewish Gas Chamber Hoax released in March, both of which created buzz within the Holocaust denial movement.

In addition to creating these films, Hunt also started a new website called the “Holocaust Hoax Museum,” where he is working to create a virtual museum. When the site is completed, visitors will be able to tour the virtual space and “learn about how the genocidal ‘gas chambers disguised as showers’ myth promotes war.” Hunt is still soliciting donations to complete the project.

In The Majdanek Gas Chamber Myth, Hunt claims that “the gas chamber hoax has become a self-serving Jewish supremacist religious myth, which has no place in modern society.” He continues, “Holocaust hoaxers are holding onto this libelous charge for dear life” because without Majdanek, supposedly, “the Holocaust house of cards collapses.”

The film paints the Holocaust as part of a larger Jewish conspiracy to create infighting among Europeans, stating, “The gas chamber myth pushes Europeans apart. Jewish-owned media conglomerates inundate the gullible public with Holocaust gas chambers disguised as shower rooms propaganda, guilting Europeans to hate their people based on bogus atrocity lies.”

The film also claims that Jews use this “hoax” to justify Israeli military policies. Hunt says, “Israeli military brought to tour the fraudulent gas chambers at Majdanek are currently committing a very real genocide against innocent people in Palestine. Perhaps these Jews believe murdering Palestinian babies is justified because they were taught about extermination gas chambers disguised as shower rooms at Majdanek, but there’s no March of the Living for these dead Palestinians.”
