Conference In Qatar Features Anti-Semitism and Pro-Terror Messages

The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) held a conference earlier this week in the Qatari capital of Doha called “Al-Quds [Jerusalem] and Al-Aqsa: Between Conspiracy and Confrontation.” The daylong conference, which took place on Sunday, May 11, featured speeches by the director of Hamas’s foreign relations department, Osama Hamdan, who is based in Lebanon, and by radical cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi.qatar 2014 conference Al Aqsa

In his speech, Qaradawi reiterated his past anti-Semitic remarks glorifying the killing of Jews as part of the Islamic tradition.

According to the IUMS website: “He [Qaradawi] delivered the good news of Muslims’ victory over Jews with evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah including the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him, ‘The last hour would not come unless you fight the Jews and the stone, with a Jew behind it, would say: oh Muslim, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.’”

Qaradawi also reiterated his opposition to Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the former general who is poised to be elected as Egypt’s next president following elections that will be held later this month. Qaradawi accused Al-Sisi – who led a coup against The Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated president last year – of being the choice of the Jews. According to IUMS’s website, Qaradawi also noted the “happiness of the Jews” with the Egyptian presidential candidate Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi. He stated, “the Jews consider him their Sisi and not our Sisi.”

For his part, Hamdan used the platform to promote the use of violence against Israel and deny Israel’s right to exist, saying “Time has come to encourage Arabs and Muslims to fight for the liberation of Palestine because rights can’t return without force.”

Hamdan also said, “It’s shameful to forget what was occupied in 1948, which is the majority of the land of Palestine,” and expressed hope that the reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah would lead to a “reconsideration of the liberation project.”

IUMS is led by Qaradawi and is partially sponsored by the Qatari government. Qatar’s repeated provision of a platform for events marked by anti-Semitism and support for terrorism calls into question the country’s claims to be a moderate and reasonable voice in the region. The conference is also an example of the pervasive anti-Semitism that exists in the Middle East and North Africa.

Egyptian Prime Minister Attends Anti-Semitic Sermon

Dr. Alaa Abdulaziz, Egypt’s Minister of Culture, speaks at anti-Semitic rally

Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil and other members of his cabinet attended an anti-Semitic sermon today at Rabiaa al-Adawia Mosque in Cairo. Dr. Salah Sultan, a member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, delivered the sermon, which called the Jews “the enemies of God… The cursed ones.”

Sultan asked Muslims to be ready to fight the “sons of Israel” and called upon Christians to remember that Jews conspired to kill Jesus and accused his mother of adultery.

Sultan also made the preposterous claim that in the Talmud teaches that God created Jews from human sperm and the non-Jews from animal sperm” so that the non-Jews serve as animals to the Jews. He also criticized the culture in Egypt before the revolution because it recognized Israel and called for a correction in education about Palestine.

After the sermon, Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Dr. Alaa Abdulaziz, delivered a short speech to reiterate Egypt’s commitment to consider “Jerusalem a capital for Palestine.”

The sermon was part of Egypt’s commemoration of the memory of the Isra and Mi’raj, the night journey of Prophet Mohammed to Jerusalem. Other rallies also took place in Cairo to commemorate what many in Arab world consider the 46th anniversary of the occupation of eastern Jerusalem by Israeli forces.

In October of last year, ADL expressed concern after President Morsi attended a sermon, which featured similar anti-Semitism.

Muslim Brotherhood Expresses Support For Hamas In Gaza

Meeting between Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and Yusuf Qaradawi in Gaza

A senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Guidance Bureau in Egypt expressed support for Hamas during a visit to Gaza on Wednesday.

Abderrahman Al-Bar, who is visiting Gaza with a delegation headed by radical Muslim Brotherhood cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi and representatives of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), delivered the greetings of Mohammad Badie, the General Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, to Hamas leaders.

“I report to you the greetings of the General Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood and all of his brothers and our brothers in Egypt,” Al-Bar said. “They are all yearning to be in this meeting and they are behind you with food and supply.”

Al-Bar also expressed his “overwhelming happiness to be in the company of the Mujahid Imam, Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi,” and to “meet our brothers and beloved ones and the symbol of Jihad in this time.”

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh described Qaradawi as “The Sheik of the Arab spring” and suggested that his visit a step toward the liberating all Palestinian land from the Israelis. The visit is “a first step towards Al-Quds, a first step towards Al-Aqsa, a first step towards Palestine – all Palestine,” he said.

During the meeting with Hamas, Dr. Salah Sultan, an anti-Semitic media personality and head of the Jerusalem committee of the IUMS, said, “We hope, with the Will of God almighty, that this significant visit announces the inauguration of a project to liberate al-Quds [Jerusalem] and Palestine.”

Qaradawi, who recently boycotted an interfaith conference in Doha because he refuses to dialogue with Jews, reportedly said yesterday, “This land has never once been a Jewish land. Palestine is for the Arab Islamic nation.”
