During a debate with an Israeli guest on Sky News Arabia over Jordan’s Parliamentary decision to expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman on Wednesday, Jordanian Parliamentarian Yahya al-Saud went on a tirade against Jews.

According to various Arab media reports, al-Saud started chanting at the Israeli guest. “Oh Khaiber, Khaiber, oh you Jews, the army of Muhammad shall return.” evoking the story of the Jews of Khaibar, who were subjugated and slaughtered in Arabia 1400 years ago.

Al-Saud who heads the Palestine Committee in the Jordanian parliament, reportedly added, “Arab armies must be prepared to expel the Jews.”

Al-Saud also threatened to call for a vote to withdraw confidence from Jordanian government if it did not enforce the Parliament’s decision to expel the Israeli ambassador.

The Jordanian Parliament voted with great majority to expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman last week in response to what it claimed to be Israeli attempts to allow Jewish prayer on Temple Mount in holy places administered by Jordanians.

The status of the Temple Mount, a site with deep religious significance in Judaism and Islam, is a perennial source of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic conspiracies throughout the Arab and Muslim world.  Tensions have been particularly heightened in recent days following the convening of a Knesset discussion on the issue by Member of Knesset, Moshe Feiglin.

Yahya al-Saud’s tirade is not in line with the positions and statements of the Jordanian Monarch, King Abdullah II, who remains a prominent voice for tolerance in the Arab and Muslim World. The King renewed his commitment to a peaceful and just solution to the conflict in the Middle East during a meeting between Parliament leaders on February 23.

Arab Editorial Cartoons Say Obama And Romney Controlled By Jews

As the U.S. Presidential campaign moves into its final frenetic weeks, political cartoonists across the Arab and Muslim world have made clear that they see little to differentiate President Obama from Governor Romney, nor Republican from Democrat.  In their view, the candidates and the entire U.S. political system are indistinguishable in their subservience to Jews and Israel.

Al-Watan, September 10, 2012 (Saudi Arabia).

In expressing their distorted views on the 2012 campaign, the cartoonists from across the Middle East frequently feature candidates Obama and Romney kissing the hand or foot of the “Jewish lobby” or Israeli leaders.  Other cartoons depict Jews/Israeli’s controlling the U.S. ballot boxes.  While many of the featured cartoons include classic anti-Semitic imagery and stereotypes, others exhibit a more nuanced, yet still defamatory, portrayal of Jewish control over the upcoming US presidential election.

The 2008 campaign featured similarly themed caricatures, but many focused exclusively on then-candidate Barack Obama as enslaved by/in the pocket of Jews and Israel.

The allegation that Jews manipulate and control governments has been around for centuries.   The canard is a centerpiece of anti-Semitic literature from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion to Hitler’s Mein Kampf to the Hamas Charter.  Modern iterations of this charge abound among extremists and hate-mongers, but nowhere as prominently, or in mainstream acceptance as in the Middle East, where “Jewish power” is the reason commonly relied upon to explain U.S. support for Israel.  On a daily basis, the editorial cartoons which ADL compiles from media outlets across the region feature stereotypical Jewish figures (sometimes depicted as Israel or Israeli leaders) as puppet masters of the region, the international community, and most particularly, the United States.

The message on these caricatures are clear: when it comes to the U.S. election, the party or the candidate doesn’t matter.  Jews control the candidates and the process.  Jews and Israel determine the outcome of the election and will determine the policy set by whoever wins on November 6.

Blood Libel Broadcast Across Arab World: New Arabic Translation Of Talmud Cited

Holocaust denial, the blood libel and other vicious anti-Semitism marked last week’s episode of the weekly show Milad airing on multiple Arab satellite channels.

Salman Al-Ouda

During the program, a weekly discussion with Dr. Salman al-Ouda, a prominent Saudi scholar and the Assistant Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, al-Ouda promoted the Arabic language translation of the Babylonian Talmud to support his anti-Semitic diatribe.

In one segment of the episode, al-Ouda said: “The Jews believe that they have the right to kill anyone who doesn’t believe in their religion – it’s stated in the Talmud.” He then told a story about a doctor who was asked by Jews to provide them with human blood to make pies. That story was followed by another description of Jews abducting children in Damascus in order to use their blood during Easter.

Al-Ouda then showed a copy of the newly released Arabic translation of the Talmud published by the Middle East Studies Center (MESC), a Jordan-based think tank. “The people who translated this book must be thanked,” he said. “…they gave us a weapon to confront our enemies, to expose the mentality of the Jews, to learn how they think and expose their scandals. The Jews were very upset with this translation and fought against it.”

When asked by the show’s co-host if the Jews’ evil characteristics are acquired or inherent, Al-Ouda responded, “Worldwide, you might find some Jews who live in open societies away from the influence of other Jews or away from the bond with their religion and race. They turn into atheist Jews like Norman [Finkelstein], who is an atheist, or some even become communists, or socialists. They become ordinary people, away from the influence of [their] religion.”

Al-Ouda described Finkelstein, an anti-Israel academic whose career has been marked by a vitriolic hatred of Zionism and Israel, as “Jewish yet courageous.” Al-Ouda also minimized the number of Jews killed during the Holocaust.

Milad airs on Qatar Television, Libya Television, and Saudi channels including 4Shabab, Rotana and Al-Risala, among others. Earlier this month, ADL expressed concern that anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and anti-Israel plot lines have dominated various shows airing during Ramadan on satellite stations with wide viewership across the Middle East.
